MICHAEL LAWRENCE POTTER
Michael Lawrence Potter was born on the 16th of July 1992 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Potter spent 2016 to 2018 completing his articles of clerkship at the Johannesburg law firm Moodie and Robertson in order to be admitted as an attorney. The pull towards storytelling remained a constant in his life and during this time he performed stand up comedy at various night clubs and festivals around Johannesburg and Pretoria and starred in music videos for independent rap artists such as Bizzkuit and Jay Cubes.
In the same year that he was admitted to the South African roll of attorneys Potter received his formal acting training in 2018 spending his weekends being taught at the Johannesburg based Indigoview Advanced Acting Academy by Steven Feinstein. He graduated in November 2018 following a performance in the play "Scenes" at the prestigious Johannesburg Theatre. His performance caught the eye of Ian Gareth Hadfield of Authentik Management who offered to sign him to the agency. Potter accepted and left the legal profession to pursue acting full time.
In January 2019 Potter landed his first feature role as Bobby in the upcoming American 2020 Alastair Orr film "Triggered".
Thereafter Potter starred in Masebedi Molefi's independent film "Angel" and Maurice Loois' "Jaw".
From October 3rd to October 5th Potter performed an original play "Looking for Audrey" at the PopArt Theatre-a play which Potter wrote and produced which subsequently sold out the the theatre.
Michael is a self-confessed fanatic of the business and the art of storytelling at all levels and in all facets.

Michael was privileged enough to play Caleb in Nasebedi Molefi's short film Angel. The film was a touching and poignant piece about loss, grief and love.
FEBRUARY 17 2019
Michael landed his first feature role as Bobby in Alastair Orr's 2020 film Triggered. The film is a thrilling tale of nine friends who all harboring a dark secret. After going camping in the woods and engaging in a a wild night of partying, they wake up with suicide bombs strapped to their chests, all with varying times on their countdown clocks. They decide to work out how to disarm the bombs or find help - until they discover they can 'take' one another's time by killing each other.

Michael's first performance was at the prestigious Johannesburg Theatre as part of the Indigoview Acting Academy.
The play was a raw, nuanced and beautiful collection of pieces from various playwrights written and directed by teh incomparable Steven Feinstein.
LOOKING FOR AUDREY- A BOX OFFICE AND CRITICAL SUCCESS

Looking for Audrey was an original theatre production written and produced by Michael Lawrence Potter.
The play follows a 20 something named Mark who seems to be in a perpetual string of relationships that go nowhere. The only constant in life sees to be his friend Annie, an outspoken intelligent bombshell going through her own identity crisis.
Mark decides he is no longer going to leave his love life to chance and instead creates a test to find the perfect woman of his dreams based on his favourite actress and crush, starlet of the 60s, Audrey Hepburn.
The PopArt theatre hosted the production and boasted a sell out on all 3 days with favourable critical reception.

Prior to his paid roles, Potter took up several unpaid roles in independent student films (as both an actor and writer) and also appeared in music videos for independent rap artists such as Bizzcuit's "Ka Cool" video and Jay Cube's "Makoti".
Michael played Caleb in Maurice Loois' sci-fi short film "JAW". A villainous super powered business man.
Michael played an Apartheid era prison guard in Zwelethu Radebe's sizzler reel for the "Hangman".
